Clams

Quahog clams are extremely numerous in the mine. You can pick up dozens of whole specimens in a short period of time.

This clam (above and below) lay on the bottom for quite some time before it was buried and made a good home for many other animals after its original owner died. The outside of the shell was heavily burrowed into. The inside made a nice shelter for barnacles, coral, bryozoans and spirorbid worms. clam_02_06.jpg
