Dry Dredgers Field Trip
April 28, 2001
Northeastern Kentucky
Kope, Fairview and Bellevue Formations

Page 1

It was a gorgeous late April day for the Dry Dredgers 2001 trip to Maysville, Kentucky. The turnout was strong. This fossil site is so huge, that it was not possible to count all the members attending, but at least 15 cars were counted. The site exposes much of the Kope formation and the entire Fairview formation.

Here are some photos from our trip.

There is no way for pictures to convey the shear dimensions of this road cut. Notice above that the picture at left looks pretty much like any other road cut along a highway until you look very carefully for the Dry Dredger standing on the top. Can you see him? Let's zoom in. WOW! Anyone who has been to the top of this cut can tell you, it is QUITE A VIEW!
